Episode 15: A Flabby Rattle, or: I Know Just Enough to Be Dangerous

In the fifteenth episode of The Undisciplined Room, Scott and Sara make sound about sound, reflect on how learning to code is like learning plumbing or auto mechanics or something, and in a brief Arts Corner, acknowledge the existence of a book neither of them has read.

Still here…

Aside

Hello? Anybody home? The Undisciplined Room is not gone… we’ve just been busy with travels and the Room 34 studio move for the past couple of weeks. New episodes are on the way!

Episode 11: A Couple of Wavy Lines

In the short, but not as short as we think, eleventh episode of The Undisciplined Room, Scott and Sara discuss “homeless hotspots” at South by Southwest (SXSW), the Curator’s Code and the audacity of valuing curation itself over the content being curated, and, in a brief “Arts Corner,” the anachronistic use of fonts.

Fun with noise gate

Aside

Apparently I had the noise gate up a little too high on episode 7. If you notice a lot of weird audio drops in spots where we’re not talking, that’s why. I’m sure it’s not as bad as when Linus recites the nativity story in A Charlie Brown Christmas though. (Whenever I think of excessive noise gate — which, yes, is something I think of — this always comes to mind.) But then again, our voices aren’t drenched in cavernous reverb, either.
